HEARING GOD'S VOICE
DO YOU LONG TO
HEAR GOD'S VOICE? One
of the questions I am asked most as a pastor is about hearing God's
voice. That is what this site is about. You will discover the
different ways God communicates with you. This site is based on the
book, Hearing
God's Voice For Yourself A Beginner's Guide.
I wrote this book as a resource for those who think God
doesn't
speak to them, for those who think God may be speaking to them, and for
those who are simply curious. There will be
exercises for you to
do to learn how you best hear God, how to test what you
are
getting from God and how to know that it is God communicating with you.
Here is an example of a short exercise:
Go to the place in your house
where you spend time alone with God. Make
sure you have your Bible, paper, and pen or
pencil handy. Get
comfortable. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and relax.
When
you're relaxed, open your eyes. What are you seeing? Write it
down.
What are you hearing? Write it down. What are you
smelling? Write it
down. What are you feeling or sensing? Write it down.
Now, open your
Bible to 1 John 1. Read until something catches your
attention. Write
out the scriptures. Look at it and think on it for
a while. Write out
what you are seeing, feeling, and sensing from the
scriptures. Write
out all your impressions. What is God saying to you. Write it
out. Date
it and put it in a notebook. Do this daily for
a week, going to
whatever Bible books or chapters you feel inspired to read.
At the end
of the week do the following, look at all your
notes from the
scriptures you've read this week.
What do all the
scriptures have in common?
What do they tell you about what God is saying to you? What areas of
your life is He
speaking to? Did this answer any
questions you've had on your mind?
Did this bring up any new questions you'd like answers to? Write them
out , then follow the
same process asking God for answers.
